Di is in her mid thirties and is a dynamic, career oriented teacher.
Hartley Heights is her first appointment as Principal and caps a meteoric rise
through the ranks. She is a firm woman but by no means a disciplinarian. She believes strongly in the kids being taught to gradually take control of their own lives. This is not to suggest that Di is a weak woman. She is as tough as anyone if the ituation warrants it.
Despite being unmarried, Di certainly isn't married to her job. She has a vibrant social life and is rarely without a boyfriend. Di Barnett's success, and her modern attitudes constantly brought her into conflict with Hartley High's principal, Les Bailey ... however, her heart is in the right place and it is obvious that she cares for all the students at Hartley Heights High School.
