Heartbreak High Episode 170
Kurt (Jeremy Lindsay Taylor) is mad at the world as anyone who gets in his way invariably finds out. All but Nat (John Walton) manages to escape unscathed.
An altercation in class results in a black eye for Nat and it looks as though Kurt will be charged with assault. Barnett (Andrea Moor) suspends him but Nat's not sure he wants to go ahead with the charge. He is sure there is a reason for Kurt's behaviour. Kurt reads Nat's offer of help as do-good patronising and he refuses to apologise for what he has done. However, the pieces start to fall together when Nat discovers that it was Kurt's eighteenth birthday on the day the trouble started. Kurt explains that celebrating his birthday alone reminded him of how unimportant he is to the people around him - neither his mother or father phoned him, no one at school remembered, he's nothing to anybody. Kurt finally apologises to Nat but decides he's not coming back to school. He's going to try his luck on the outside.
Draz (Callan Mulvey) and Ryan (Rel Hunt) are bored with routine living and wonder what excitement could be had by living a life based solely on random decision. They abandon their ways and surrender their lives to the roll of a dice. The basis of the experiment is this: whenever one of the boys is confronted with a question, the dice will decide whether he tells a lie or the truth. It doesn't take long for the boys to recognise the perils of the dice and they make their own decision to return to their mundane, yet comfortably 'safe' lives.
